Every choice — from the pieces we curate to the way we share them — is guided by the desire to protect the planet and honour the people who inhabit it.

Our collections celebrate craftsmanship rooted in tradition, small-scale production, and materials chosen with care. We prioritise natural, recycled, or repurposed resources and collaborate with artisans who embrace low-impact, handmade methods. Each piece tells a story of sustainability through skill, proving that ethical design and aesthetic pleasure can live in harmony.

Beyond the curation of products, we recognise that every stage of our activity — from logistics to packaging, from digital presence to shipping — contributes to our environmental footprint. We are committed to constant learning, transparency, and improvement, adapting as we grow to reduce our impact wherever possible.

Shipping

Vagabond follows a slow commerce philosophy.
We never hold stock and encourage direct purchases through our partner artisans or brands. This approach eliminates unnecessary transport and warehouse waste. When items do travel, we:

  • Prioritise sea or land freight over air shipping whenever possible.
  • Consolidate deliveries and favour regional fulfillment to reduce long-distance shipping.
  • Support carbon-offset options and environmentally responsible couriers.

Every decision around movement is guided by a simple principle: what travels must be worth the journey.

Packaging

Because many of the pieces we curate — ceramics, glass, textiles — are delicate and handmade, packaging is a real challenge. Protecting a product responsibly means balancing durability and sustainability.

We work closely with our artisans and suppliers to:

  • Use recycled and recyclable materials whenever possible.
  • Minimise plastic and non-biodegradable packaging.
  • Encourage local sourcing of packaging materials to limit additional freight.

We are aware that solutions are not perfect everywhere. Access to eco-friendly materials remains limited in some regions, but we actively support our partners in finding creative, local, and low-impact alternatives.
