Croci e Quadri

This work translates traditional weaving language into a large-format floor textile. The composition plays with stepped motifs and boxed fields rendered in warm natural tones and deep accents, set within a textured border that frames the central pattern. The design alternates dense, raised weft sections and tightly woven linear passages to create subtle relief and a rich tactile surface underfoot.

All fibres are sourced from Sardegna, linking the material to the island’s pastoral heritage and the artist’s territory. Woven entirely by hand on a horizontal loom, the rug is the result of layered techniques — counted weave, tufted inserts and careful finishing — that preserve the irregularities and marks of manual making. These variations are intentional: they attest to the human time invested and the object’s authenticity.

This rug is engineered for living: robust underfoot, it brings warmth, acoustic comfort and a strong narrative presence to large living spaces, dining areas or entry halls. Each piece is finished with a reinforced underside and neatly bound edges to aid longevity.
