Nocturne Patch

Nocturne Patch is a study in grain and contrast where refined textiles meet earthy cork. The surface is composed of tightly woven strips, small panels and appliqué inserts arranged in a disciplined, rectilinear grid. Deep black velvet pieces introduce moments of low, tactile sheen while cork tiles add matte relief and linear definition. Complementary woven structures—herringbone, coarse weave and fine plain cloth—provide varied surface behaviour, so light and shadow travel across the panel producing subtle depth and rhythm.

Mounted visibly on a broad matte passe‑partout, the work reads as a stitched relief or miniature architectural field. The restrained presentation foregrounds craft: individual stitched joins, selvedge details, slight colour shifts and hand‑finished edges that confirm manual making. Produced with Sardinian and locally sourced natural fibres and traditional techniques interpreted for a contemporary language, every piece is unique. Ideal as an intimate focal accent in a study, hallway or curated wall where texture and material narrative are central.

• Dust gently with a soft brush or low‑suction vacuum using a textile nozzle.  
• Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, extreme heat and high humidity to preserve fibres, colours, velvet pile and cork.  
• For stains, consult a professional textile conservator; spot cleaning only is recommended.  

Nocturne Patch explores the encounter of plush pile and raw cork: a deliberate tension between softness and matte structure where each stitch and insert records the maker’s hand. The piece is conceived to invite close looking and to mature gracefully over time.
